Yes to bees – no to petitions

Lots of family-run farms combine modern technology with experience passed down by their ancestors to grow regional food. They have been using organic and traditional crop protection methods to protect bees for many years – and not just in the case of organic farms, but also in integrated cultivation. Modern crop protection technology helps in this regard, by reducing the amount of pesticide required and minimising drift.

The regional farming community wants sensible solutions for protecting different species and the environment as a whole, and not blanket bans. Blanket bans lead to the excessive importing of fruit and vegetables from overseas, some of which are treated with the pesticides that we ban here on home soil.

So we say: Yes to bees and no to petitions.
